Changing an already established logo is doable but you should proceed with care. The pros of successfully upgrading your logo can result in increase brand awareness and sales profit, while the cons can result in detriment.
Wendy’s successfully changed their logo earlier this year. Beyond energizing their brand, Wendy’s also rolled out new advertising ads, packaging designs, uniforms and remodeled their stores. It was reported that Wendy’s new identity returned the company at least a 25% sales increase.
Making a bad logo design change could potentially cause you to lose sales.
In 2009, Tropicana orange juice, not so successfully attempted to change their logo. Tropicana got a lot of negative feedback from consumers and graphic designers about their new logo. Critics complained that it was hard to see what Tropicana was selling. Maybe the loudest critic was Tropicana’s sales dropped 20% during the two months after the logo went public.
